About Erika Heeren

Erika Heeren is an award-winning digital marketing and public relations professional with more than 16 years of experience spanning multiple industries and more than 200 clients.

As founder of The Small Business Marketing Studio, Heeren is focused on education and advocacy to help small businesses compete in a global digital economy. Heeren also works as a consultant and corporate trainer for businesses across the United States.

Erika Heeren is an incoming graduate student and GNOVIS Fellow at Georgetown University pursuing her Master of Arts in Communication, Culture, and Technology (Class of 2023) with a research focus on technology business, ethics, and policy. Heeren is also pursuing completion of the Apprenticeship in Teaching program at Georgetown’s Center for New Designs
in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS).

Erika Heeren is an experienced and engaging speaker in the areas of women’s issues, small business development, communications, and digital marketing. A former reporter, she also frequently writes for various print and web publications.

Heeren is married and lives in the Washington, DC area. She has two children (Ben and Lottie), a spoiled German Shepherd (Penelope), and one obstinate cat (Bernie Boots). She enjoys reading, writing, and playing the piano in her spare time.

Erika Heeren currently serves on the board of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Marketing Association as Vice President, Communications. 

Heeren is a 2019 Idaho Business Review Women of the Year honoree, a 2019 Women in Content Marketing Awards – Mentorship winner, a 2016 Idaho Press Awards recipient, a Suburban Newspapers of America Design Award recipient, and has been featured on Inc.com as one of the Top 10 Women in Content Marketing in 2019.
